Gold Lab – What on Earth?
Stay tuned for a comprehensive and honest review of Quickspin’s five-reel video slot Gold Lab. The game is a gentle ride, light-hearted and apparently lackadaisical in everything it does. It’s more a hangover cure than a gripping thriller, and perhaps that will suit some of you down to the ground right now. An Overview of the Rules and Features
The music seems to float along like a feather in a light breeze. It sounds like the intro sequence to a mid-afternoon soap opera, following an old man cycling through a field on a summer day, waving at villagers with a warm smile. Even if you hit the jackpot you’ll soon be on eBay buying voodoo dolls of the audio team. Visuals are as bright and chirpy as the soundscape. The protagonist, a Minion-like scientist stands to the left of the reels, looking on with glee as you insert your coins into his gold-making machine. Symbols consist of various bottles filled with potions, indicative of the scientist’s aforementioned attempts to procure gold.
On to the gameplay features: as with many Quickspin titles, Gold Lab features respins which are integral to the setup. Here, beaker symbols turn wild for respins. Titled the Golden Bonus, three beakers in the base game will trigger four respins. When the Golden Bonus is triggered, all corresponding beaker symbols on the reels transform into wilds for the duration of the bonus. If you get another Golden Bonus scatter symbol during a respin, corresponding beaker symbols turn wild and you get one more respin to enjoy. The game has 25 fixed paylines, paying from left to right, while wagers are flexible enough to accommodate high-rollers and casual players alike.

Conclusion – Nothing Special
Everyone knows that Chrysopoeia, the artificial production of gold, is a very difficult and expensive process involving the use of either nuclear reactors or particle accelerators. Everyone, that is, except for the scientist here in the Gold Lab. His experiments are destined to fail, the poor guy. However, as the captain of this sinking ship, punters can steer clear of this madness and make monetary gains galore, with a bit of luck. The game pays out quite regularly, and it’s a simple pick up and play type of adventure that won’t have you inspecting the manual. The trickiest thing you’ll have to deal with is the inevitable search for the miniscule mute button, to manipulate the monotonous music into nothingness, all without a particle accelerator in sight.
